Crew Leader – Hardscape Installation

Position Overview

Messingers Hardscape Landscaping Design is seeking an experienced and motivated Crew Leader – Hardscape Installation to oversee and perform advanced hardscape construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supervising crews, reading and executing project plans, maintaining high-quality standards, and mentoring laborers in proper installation techniques. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician and natural leader who prioritizes safety, efficiency, and craftsmanship on every job site.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the installation of patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, fire pits, and other hardscape features

• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and design layouts

• Supervise and train hardscape laborers to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently

• Operate excavation, grading, and installation equipment and tools

• Ensure all work meets company and industry standards for quality, precision, and safety

• Identify and resolve issues that arise during installation

• Communicate regularly with management regarding progress, challenges, and material needs

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site

• Contribute to project planning and material usage decisions

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hardscape installation experience (leadership or foreman experience preferred)

• Strong knowledge of paver systems, retaining wall systems, and base preparation

• Proficiency with equipment including skid steers, compactors, saws, and hand tools

• Ability to read site plans and understand grade elevations

• Physically capable of heavy lifting and working outdoors in all weather conditions

• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus

Work Schedule

• Full-time: Monday through Saturday

• Standard hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with breaks)

• Overtime may be required during peak season
